Important Requirements:

Trip Costs & Payment Information:

  • Airfare: Each team member is responsible for arranging and purchasing their own airfare after coordinating with their team leader.

  • CMDA Member Discounts:

    • CMDA Members (MD, DO, DDS, DMD): $100 discount

    • Associate Healthcare Members: $50 discount
      Discounts are applied after registration is approved and reflected once MEI processes the application. Invoices will be emailed, and payments/donations can be made via ServiceReef.

Registration Fees:

  • CMDA Member Professionals: $150

  • Non-Member Professionals: $250

  • Allied Healthcare Professionals:

    • Members: $75

    • Non-members: $125

  • Non-medical Professionals / Spouses / Guests: $100

 

Emergency Evacuation Insurance (EEI):

  • Mandatory for all participants

  • Cost: $4.69 per day

  • Coverage begins on your departure date and ends upon return to the U.S.

  • MEI will purchase this insurance on your behalf

 

Project Fees & Final Billing:

  • In-country fees must be paid by participants directly, as needed.

  • MEI will invoice each participant based on:

    • Travel dates

    • CMDA membership status

    • Team role

  • All payments are due 30 days prior to departure.

 

Summary of Required Costs to Participate:

To participate in a trip, each team member must:

  1. Complete the online application
  2. Pay the MEI application fee
  3. Complete a background check
  4.  ​​​​​​Sign the waiver and return it to [email protected].
  5. Forward CV, medical license, and any certification for your teaching title.
  6. Send an electronic photo and copy of the passport, if not uploaded in the application.    

Your total trip cost will vary based on travel and personal expenses. An invoice with your specific costs will be provided.

Prerequisites

  1. If not enclosed with the application, please forward a copy of your passport that has an expiration date at least 6 months from the date of entry, 12 months is preferred.
  2. Healthcare professionals, please forward a copy of your current CV (must be within the last 3 years.)
  3. Healthcare professionals, please forward a copy of your medical license valid through the trip dates. (If you no longer maintain a license, you can participate in teaching, but are not permitted to provide any patient care.)
  4. Healthcare professionals, please forward a copy of your board certification or any other certifications related to your assignment on this trip.

Responsibilities

  1. Discuss with the Team Leader your topic for lecture preparations.
  2. Download and complete the waiver 30 days prior to your departure date (or immediately upon applying).
  3. Complete the authorization form for the background check 30 days days prior to your departure date (or immediately upon applying).

Restrictions

  1. You must be in relatively good physical condition and can walk a minimum of one mile.
