Trip Purpose:
This trip is designed to provide medical education and strengthen collaborative relationships with local healthcare providers. Emphasis is placed on equipping clinicians with practical knowledge while fostering meaningful team connection and long-term partnership.

  • General Internal Medicine
  • Subspecialties including:
    • Cardiology
    • Urology
Additional Teaching Topics:
Topics may be expanded based on team expertise and specific needs identified by the host.

Lodging:
Accommodations will be provided at the Baptist Guest House.

Meals:
Meals will be arranged and provided by the host.

In-Country Transportation:
All transportation within the country will be coordinated and provided by the host team.

Travel Information:
  • Departure from major U.S. cities
  • Typical airfare: approximately $1,000
  • Common layover cities include Istanbul, Turkey, and Vienna, Austria
Estimated Costs:
  • In-country expenses: $50–$100 per day
Typical Schedule:
Participants can expect a structured schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, in clinic and hospital settings. One day may include travel to a remote clinic for outreach and support.

Passport Requirements:
  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel dates

  • Visa not required in advance for U.S. travelers (subject to change; verify prior to travel)
Immunizations:
  • Standard travel immunizations are recommended
In-Country CMDA Chapter:
  • Presence: Informal

  • Team building for doctors, nurses, students, and residents
  • Student meeting
  • During the week, various meetings with the Emanuel team, the department, Home Care, as well as time for rest and fellowship

Prerequisites

  1. If not enclosed with the application, please forward a copy of your passport that has an expiration date at least 6 months from the date of entry, 12 months is preferred.
  2. Healthcare professionals, please forward a copy of your current CV (must be within the last 3 years.)
  3. Healthcare professionals, please forward a copy of your medical license valid through the trip dates. (If you no longer maintain a license, you can participate in teaching, but are not permitted to provide any patient care.)
  4. Healthcare professionals, please forward a copy of your board certification or any other certifications related to your assignment on this trip.

  2. Download and complete the waiver 30 days prior to your departure date (or immediately upon applying).
  3. Complete the authorization form for the background check 30 days days prior to your departure date (or immediately upon applying).
